CYCLOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – JUDITH KRAHL IN THE TOP TEN
Cyclocross rider Judith Krahl impressed at the Cyclo-Cross World Championship in Hoogerheide (Netherlands) with a remarkable eighth place in the U23 women's race.
"I am very happy with this World Championship result. It was a very fast race from the start, so I couldn't play tactics, I just had to be fast. I rode with the French rider for quite some time and was able to pass her on the last lap."
– Judith Krahl on her strong performance at these World Championships.
Her U23 teammates from the Gunzendorf/Baiersdorf cycling team Heizomat p/b Kloster Kitchen fell short of expectations. The reigning German U23 champion, Hannes Degenkolb, missed a top-20 finish and placed 23rd. Lukas Herrmann, who couldn't get back into the season properly due to illness and had a technical defect 2 laps before the end, finished 47th. The German U23 riders had to start the race from the back rows. Swiss rider Lars Sommer still managed a top-30 finish with 29th place.
In the U19 men's classification, Hamburg's Max Oertzen also achieved a top-30 placement with 25th place.
