We source a very special ingredient for our Apple Strawberry Pear Smoothie from Biohof Decker in Cadolzburg: the Haskap berry. This organic farm is one of the first in Germany to cultivate the Haskap berry itself.
What are the advantages of local superfoods like the Haskap berry?
Local superfoods naturally impress, on the one hand, with short transport routes – and thus a significantly lower emission of pollutants.
Furthermore, fruits often lose many vitamins and good ingredients during long storage and transport. Haskap berries, for example, contain valuable antioxidants, as well as minerals and vitamins.
As a result, local superfoods are simply the much better and more climate-friendly alternative to their exotic counterparts.
