CYCLOCROSS IN THE SNOW

The Heizomat Cyclocross Radteam p/b Kloster Kitchen competed last weekend in the season's only cyclocross snow race in Val di Sole. With six elite riders, including Swiss riders Lars Sommer, Loris Rouiller, and Swiss Champion Timon Rüegg, as well as German athletes including German Champion Hannes Degenkolb, Fabian Eder, and Lukas Herrmann, it promised to be an exciting race.

The team, well-prepared and highly motivated, faced the challenge of the snow race with a clear goal in mind – to achieve good placings and UCI points.

The two Swiss riders, Timon Rüegg and Lars Sommer, delivered excellent performances, securing good placings of 8th and 12th respectively in the highly competitive international field.

Timon Rüegg, who impressively fought his way back from 20th to 8th place after a crash with an overturn midway through the race, was particularly impressive. Lars Sommer secured not only 12th place overall but also the title of best U23 rider. Further team placings were: Loris Rouiller in 16th place, Hannes Degenkolb in 22nd place (4th U23), Lukas Herrmann in 29th place, and Fabian Eder in 30th place.

For all involved, the race was a unique experience. The demanding course under wintry conditions not only presented a sporting challenge but also offered a unique and spectacular atmosphere that captivated riders and fans alike.

The team management expressed great satisfaction with the performance of its riders. The achieved placings reflect the excellent form of the Heizomat Radteam p/b Kloster Kitchen.

Following this successful appearance in Italy, the team's focus now shifts to the upcoming weeks in the cyclocross stronghold of the Benelux countries. Shortly before Christmas, the team will move into a specially rented team house in Belgium and from there will contest the most intense weeks of competition in the season. Numerous renowned cross competitions and UCI races are scheduled around the holidays and the turn of the year. The races in this region are considered particularly demanding and offer ideal preparation for the national highlight, the German Championship on January 14, 2023, in Radevormwald.

By moving into the team house and with intensive preparation in the Benelux countries, the Heizomat Cyclocross Radteam p/b Kloster Kitchen is getting the final polish for the German Championship, which the team has firmly set its sights on.
