TEAM BREAKS NEW GROUND: ENTRY INTO GRAVEL CYCLING

The successful Cyclocross cycling team Heizomat powered by Kloster Kitchen has set itself a new goal for the upcoming season and will for the first time compete in the gravel sector. With Amanda Voss, Lukas Herrmann and Christopher Hatz - the team is taking on a new challenge.

The goal is ambitious: the team wants to compete in the World Championship in Italy this October and prove themselves in this discipline. The riders have intensively prepared for gravel racing and are motivated to compete with the best in the world.

"The emerging cycling sport of gravel riding is gaining increasing popularity. We are very pleased that this year we are also active in this area," says team manager Stefan Herrmann. "Our riders have invested a lot of energy and time to prepare for this. We are sure that they will perform just as successfully on the gravel path as in cyclocross."

The riders themselves are also confident that they will be successful.

Amanda Voss sees participation in the World Championship as the big goal: "Participating in the World Championship in Italy is a great motivation for all of us. We will train hard and give everything to qualify for the race." Voss already participated in the World Championship in 2022, also in Italy. Now she has already laid the foundation for her participation last weekend. At the UCI Gravel World in Blaavandshuk/Denmark, Voss secured an impressive second place in her age group, thus earning her ticket to Italy.

"The challenge in gravel racing is new for us," explains Lukas Herrmann. "Cyclocross and gravel differ in their demands and require different skills. But there are also similarities: both disciplines require endurance, strength, and good technique to be successful."

Gravel and cyclocross are both cycling disciplines that take place on uneven terrain and in nature. Gravel races are held on gravel, grit, or forest paths over 120 km, while cyclocross races are held on a cordoned-off circuit with various obstacles such as sand or mud sections, stairs, and barriers over 60 minutes.

Team Heizomat p/b Kloster Kitchen is known for its successful participation in cyclocross races at home and abroad. The team's riders have previously won several German championship titles and podium finishes in national and international races.
